Some of the best current work
of Israeli choreographers was presented at Machol Miami 2007. Dudu
Barzilay and Rafi Ziv brought us some of their new, best choreographed dances to date,
as well as a beautiful dance by Avi Levy. Mali and Moshe, Yoni Carr,
Yosi Cohen and Leslie Asaraf, Becca Rausch and Karina Lambert presented
wonderful dances, full of energy and spirit, which captivated our
participants.
We also enjoyed having Ami Gilad who
composed the music for Machol Halahat and At Va'ani, and who was present when we
were dancing those dances, as well as Ira Weisburd, the choreographer of
Sonata and other dances.

Dudu, Rafi
and their prey...
The program consisted of exciting
workshops, upbeat dance parties, spectacular theme parties and special events,
all on a background of pampered luxury. Laurel, one of the participants, who is a professional belly dance performer, charmed us with
an exquisite performance during Greek night. During Pirate Night we enjoyed Ira Posner
leading us singing some sea shanties and other songs. Don't miss
our photo diary, with hundreds
of photos of the event, day by day.
We had several exciting workshops and special
programs. The line dance party, organized by Irith, was filled with energy.
It was graced with the enthusiasm and cheer of Karina Lambert, who
also presented one of her new exciting line dances. The
nostalgia session was attended by some of the best experts in
nostalgia dances in the US, including Ken Avner and Howie Goldman. Esther Mazor conducted a
versatile program of international
folk dancing.
The event took place at the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport Hotel, a
luxury facility with an outdoor pool, a Jacuzzi, and newly renovated, lavish ballrooms where we danced and dined for 4 days and 3 nights of non-stop festivities. Our
caterer - all the food was catered and Glatt Kosher - again did a fabulous job, preparing delicious meals and some original creations.

The program was all about having fun: dancing, partying,
enjoying the warmth of friends old and new, being pampered and delighted at
every turn. Our energetic night dance parties ended in the wee hours of the
night, and grew progressively longer
each night.
It is our custom to keep dancing in the last night as
long as there are at least 10 people in the room. Since 1999 our last
night ended after dawn. 2007 was no exception - we danced till
breakfast on Monday at 9 AM, completing a 12 hour dance marathon
that started the previous Sunday.
